Welcome to the visual heart of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Marion, North Carolina. Through these photos you'll get a glimpse not only of our building and grounds, but of the life and spirit of our congregation across seasons, celebrations, and everyday moments.
St. Matthew's Lutheran Church is a landmark in Marion, located at 307 W. Court Street. Built in 1935, the church is a vernacular example of the Late Gothic Revival style - constructed with river rock and accentuated by lancet windows and structural details such as buttresses. In 1991, it was recognized on the National Register of Historic Places, affirming both its architectural value and its role in Marion's heritage.
Over the years, St. Matthew's has been more than its walls. It has been home to worship, fellowship, service, and community. These images tell that ongoing story, from Sunday worship and choir moments to fellowship events and the quiet corners of the church grounds.
This gallery highlights the architectural beauty of the building, the changing seasons that surround it, the worship services that bring the congregation together, and the many moments of community and outreach that reflect the church's mission. You'll also find historical glimpses that connect the present to the past, honoring the legacy of faith that has shaped generations.
We invite you to explore these images as a way to get to know the heart of St. Matthew's. Whether you are a visitor, a member, or simply curious, may these photographs inspire you and offer a meaningful window into the life of our church family.
